What happens to transparency
JPG has no alpha channel — it physically cannot store transparency. So before encoding, any see-through pixels are composited ("flattened") onto a solid background colour, white by default. A transparent logo becomes a logo on a white rectangle, permanently.
This is true of every JPG conversion on the site (PNG→JPG, WebP→JPG, AVIF→JPG, SVG→JPG), so it's explained once here. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead — both have a real alpha channel.

- Will converting to JPG reduce quality?
- JPG is lossy, so re-encoding always discards some fine detail to shrink the file. For photos the loss is usually invisible; for screenshots, logos, or line art the sharp edges can pick up faint speckles. If crisp edges matter, target PNG or WebP instead.
- Can I convert an animated GIF to JPG?
- You'll get a single still frame — JPG has no concept of animation, so the tool captures one frame and encodes that. To keep motion, use an animated format like WebP or GIF.
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. The picture is decoded and re-encoded on your device with the browser's canvas, and nothing is sent to us, so it's safe for private photos and documents.
