Combining BMP images into a PDF places each uncompressed Windows bitmap on its own page — handy for bundling page scans or exports from older Windows software into one file that opens anywhere. Technically this is a straightforward image-to-PDF conversion, the same idea as the JPG and PNG versions, and it's simply not wired up on this page yet; when it ships it will run in your browser with pdf-lib. Because BMP is uncompressed, source files are large and the resulting PDF can be too, though the pages will look exactly like the bitmaps you supply.
Frequently asked questions
- Should I convert BMP to PNG first?
- You won't need to — BMP will go straight into the PDF once this is live. Converting to PNG beforehand would only shrink the files; it wouldn't change how the pages look.
- Why isn't it available right now?
- It's being wired up. The conversion itself is simple and on the list to enable, so the page shows a rebuild notice until it's switched on.
